General on the 13th January last. The nominal

authorised capital of the Company is $1,000,000

divided into 10,000 shares of $100 each and the

total shares taken up to the 31st December last

and subscribed for numbered 2,500.

I am informed that the Hong Kong and

Swatow Commercial Bank Limited is considered good

for ordinary engagements.

As the Bank in question is exclusively a

Chinese concern I see no reason why protection

should be afforded in this case and I have the honour

to request therefore that the matter may be brought

to the attention of His Majesty's Principal Secretary

of State for Foreign Affairs in accordance with

the terms of Section 221 (2) of the Order-in-Council.
